6/10/26- Day 10, Back onto the mountains

I left Hot Springs, in the cool of the morning, with hopes of dodging rain drops all day. I was successful. There were rain showers around, but I got lucky. I climbed and climbed then climbed some more. I started at around 1800 feet, climbed to 5100 then settled for the night at 4700.

I’m in a shelter with 6 other hikers. In the Smoky Mountains you can’t tent, or hammock, unless the shelters are full, and this one holds 12.

I tried to take pictures, today, but again, it’s mostly just trees. I keep looking for vistas, but I may be out of luck for a while. I’ll be in the higher elevations of these mountains for the next 5 days, so I haven’t given up hope.

Tomorrow will be more ups and downs, but not the long, 7 mile climb I had today.

For now that’s it, dinner’s done, so time to hit the sleeping bag.

Whistler out.
