6/2/2026- Day 2. Stan Murray to Clyde Smith Shelter

Another wet and very cold day. I started by climbing up and over Grassy Ridge, 6189’, the High Ridge at 5450’ and finally Roan Mountain at 6150. I was cold enough with the wind and rain, to be thinking about hypothermia, but fortunately, I just kept moving to keep warm enough. In the afternoon, we got a break from the rain so I could start to dry out, but not enough. Then I made it to my shelter, just before the thunderstorms started. Now I’m warm and dry in my sleeping bag, so all is pretty good.

Tomorrow is about the same hike, and again, I’m hoping for warmer and dryer weather.

Calling it a night, so Whistler signing off.
