Day 13: Glasgow to Marble Springs (5/8/21)

Another cool morning in the 30’s. Fortunately, the night was spent in the hostel. Up at 5 for coffee and more blueberry pancakes. Doesn’t matter what state you’re in it’s blueberry pancakes for breakfast. After eating, the shuttling to the trail begins. CLE and I catch the 730 ride to the James River Foot Bridge, the longest foot bridge on the AT at 1090 feet. From there, the uphill climbs are gentle on nice trails and it’s an easy walk for the 8 miles to get to Marble Springs where we’ll camp for the night. The temps are warm, but it’s windy, so rather than setting up camp we find a sunny spot for a nap, the hammock will go up later. No one else here yet, but we expect the local ridge runner (trail monitor) will be spending the night here, as well. Dinner time and a couple of deer arrived to share our space. Still warming and we hope the wind lets up. If not it will be cold, but still a nice spot for the night.

Whistler out until tomorrow
