Day 28. The big peak

Updated: Aug 2, 2018

We were up early, and with a big breakfast in our hut, off we went to complete a 19 mile day. That’s a big day for me, but is especially big for my hiking partner, because he’s not had any training for the ups and downs to come. Fortunately ,for us both, the trail was especially kind to us today. Almost all the mud has dried and the rock scrambles were few and far between. We managed to average over 2 mph all the way to the top of the mountain. Once on top, the source of our motivation was achieved, a real meal with a cold beer to wash it down. It was my treat, as it was his birthday and $62 poorer we were both full and content. Now, it’s just down the mountain, to the Inn at Long Trail where we’ll spend the night, before he heads home tomorrow. The decent seemed to take forever, they always do for me, but eventually we made it to the Inn, where the shower was hot and the beer was cold. Until tomorrow Whistler signing off.
