Wise Shelter to white Top Mountain
Woke to rain and hiked in it for most of the morning. Things didn’t start to dry out until midday. Can’t be helped- if we waited on sunny weather we’d never finish. Today, started with a 5 mile climb through open country with plenty of opportunity to see more ponies and babies. They are giving birth this time of year, so some look to be only hours old. Most are friendly. Lots of day hikers here now looking at them.
The legs are getting stronger every day and Pat (CLE) mentioned that he made one climb without having to stop. Today, we did our target mileage, plus 2.5, so that was good. Looks like two relatively easy days into Damascus as long as the trail’s not too rocky and the weather stays nice. Well, all one can do is hope and push on.
